you can scale 100 words to 1000 words. But no point

The most important is to meet the search query's intent. For some keywords, short answers are enough.
For other keywords, longer articles allow to go more in-depth and show competence in the topic.
So, I feel that although word count might not be a factor, most of the time more words will allow the writer to cover more details and appear more sophisticated to both readers and search engines.

Who says the word is not a ranking factor of any page or post, if you see the highest-ranking post mostly you will see the post highest word like 7K to 8K so the word is also a ranking factor of post ranking.

It does not appears to be a direct ranking factor but for sure it may affect the ranking indirectly.

There is the visitor intent factor also that plays a role, but generally I prefer writing longer articles, they can rank for multiple phrases.
