Woooo New client... Now what..?

Hey.

Just got a new client for ORM. How did I do it??? This is how.

1) Printed the list of bad reviews
2) Printed the google page with local businesses around
3) Rang the client...

Blah blah then spoke to the web expert.

I basically was blunt and asked, do you do anything in regards to ORM, they said yes our webdeveloper [company name] is going it.

I said "Ahh fairenough, I was just browsing google and noticed that you have some bad reviews" "what is [company name] doing about it"

He replied "Ermm I don't know, I know they are on to it"

I then went on a explained the process saying you will need to filter out the bad reviews from the good and 100+ reviews rather than 12 will broadcast that you are a large company etc etc, I was quite harsh and I offered some free advice etc etc.

But yeah, when approaching customers I found being hard on them works haha, they was explaining why they had bad reviews etc etc was funny tbh.

Anyways time to prepare a presentation, so experts how does this sound.

I am going to present to him a design of the 'review cards' and a quick mockup of the review portal.
I am then going to present a few ideas to get people to review etc.

Then for the killer I am going to show him the shit job his current web company is going. I mean they are a car dealer in a city and the keywords are : <meta name="keywords" content="Carscene used car dealer" />
Like seriously lol? Also the meta description is no better lol.

And just explain that I can sort it all out for him for a fee

Inregards to SEO I am going to show current searches for the many terms he could use, also how little SEO the competition has etc etc.

Do you think offering an "Exclusive" Licence to the pack sounds good? Just outlining the fact I will not approach nor offer theese services to anyone in the same industry in the same area. For more money haha.


Anyways any tips would be perfect!!!!!! Not just tips on presentation but tips for managing the client and doing the review site etc etc, is there a wordpress add-on for that type of thing?

As far as the SEO goes, just a quick tip: I wouldn't offer to sell them exclusivity. That angle sounds very shady - that should be included - common sense. Use it as a selling point in your pitch. Casually mention that you work on an exclusive basis, meaning you do not contract with competitors, etc. Saying something like, "I won't rank your competitors if you pay me more" has that snake oil/shady company vibe to it. Use it as a selling point as to why they should go with you. Trying to up-sell them on exclusivity when it should be a no-brainer might turn many off. Just my thoughts...

I agree being stern & in control SELLS, being gentle and nice does not. Great you figured that out sooner than later.

I also agree SEO is naturally exclusive per niche (at least to me) so don't upsell it, make it a default in your contract.
If you heard of originalposter here, he provides the website/backend to this operation if you want to outsource completely.

Wait so did you actually land the client or did you just get the consultation?

That makes sense!, I will include everything in one pack. They seemed to snap up all the ideas and facts I was reveling about there current SEO & ORM.. So I guess that is what I am going to offer them ...

I haven't charged them anything yet I am giving them a quotation.

I felt a bit uncomfortable for the first few minutes or so but after that I enjoyed it haha.

Well its just a consultation at the mo, but who I spoke to was the person in charge of managing the web side of things. He loved the idea and agree'd that the current web developers from [company] was meant to be doing it, but was failing so I pitched it to him.

But it was one of them were you can tell he is on your side, so I am 99% confident they will convert, especially when I "SHOW" them the benefits and the crap job there current web developer is doing

Talking trash about the company he's currently with is basically calling the decision maker a dumbass for choosing that company in the first place. It's counterproductive 9 out of 10 times.

Who mentioned talking trash? I just simply advised and said look the current company aren't doing a good job these are a few reviews that can cause a big impact on your business, and then explained what I will do in terms with review funnel etc etc.

I would never trash talk to a client, just strongly advised.

I am not sure but there would be a wordpress add-on for that. I noticed somewhere in the web about this before. Anyway, your approach is good; just proceed.
