In a civic minded effort to alert some of my local small business owners to my outstanding bargains in social marketing to improve their FB reps, I seem to have run afoul of the spam filters there.

I sent about 20 copies of the same message to 20+ local listings in the space of about an hour or so. When I came back about 2 hours later I found I had been logged out, and had been forcibly separated from what must certainly be an inbox overflowing with riches.

Now they want phone verification on the account. Should I consider it zorched and move on?

I wonder if it was a mere 20 messages that did me in.. or was it from using the same, and not very subtle message- or did someone narc me out???

How am I supposed to network if I can't send out messages?? :p

Whenever there is suspicious activity - too many messages sent, too many pages liked within certain amount of time, they will log you out and ask for phone verification. It's not a ban, it's protection that you are not robot. Either fill out the phone and let them send you verification code or I believe there are some services for this online, where they give you phone number etc.?

Duplicate content always rings the bell of spam. Or it could be you're sending out too e-mails/messages at once. Google seems to think that way, why not other platforms, right?

Yeah spin your message buddy:egg:

It's definitely automated stuff. No one has a clear handle on whatever you just did. Reactivate your account, and never do repeat!

My 2 cents

I though that with such a small number of messages it would be OK- I thought it wouldn't be out of line for a soccer-mom game notification type send out...

I don't want to throw away a PH # on a FB account ( and I can't find a disposable PH # via VOIP yet), so I'll just use on of my other accounts to set up a similar FB page this week and try doing 2 or 3 messages a day. :hmpf: and I guess I'll have to write some more messages and use a little bit more subtlety next time.

(Paypal will let you use any PH # to activate your account BTW so I'll either pay someone $5 to accept the text for me, or I'll use the phone at a business and get the call back there - make up a story about I need to to get money from Western Union or something. )

What I'd really like to know is if my message went through of if they got deleted... if they went through I don't consider all the time and effort wasted.
