Woocommerce vs Shopify?

Hi,

I have tried both, I tried shopify a year ago and close the stores since I didn't want to waste money when I wasn't working on my store.

Now I am trying woocommerce but I can't make it look good.

How do I create a good looking store woo or shopify doesn't matter, any course you know that teaches you how to build a good looking store?

a lot depends on the theme. go to gpldl.com and find a pretty theme for your shop

my question is I am not a designer but I want to design a good looking store, do I just outsource this or what? Which is easier to design good looking store, shopify or woo?

Just get a theme which is easy to set up. If you buy a theme from themeforest you can also pay them to set it up for you. If you have no experience in Wordpress its better to use Shopify imo.

Your easiest bet will be to use Shopify tho, since its extremely user-friendly.

woocommerce - self-hosted
Shopify - monthly recurring fees

I am using woocommerce in my store because there are no monthly fees involved. You can buy a good theme from ThemeForest and add your own flavor on theme to make a unique store.
 
If you have the money, get a designer to do it for you. That's always the easiest way.

woocommerce has more options of themes and plugins you can use to make your store look good, so if you're finally gonna do it on your own I'd go for woo

Can anyone please recommend me a good theme that is free? Paid is fine but if free is good, then I would like to go with free.

Also one more question, if I have more than 1 sites, do I pay for theme just once or multiple times for each site?

Go with Oceanwp - best free theme that has premium features + Elementor Pro
 
From what I understand with Woocommerce, it is free but a lot more configuration is needed and you need to purchase the extensions. I would think that if you are familiar with the Wordpress format and can put in the effort to get it up and running, you can't go wrong. For me Shopify just made sense.

this is interesting , why you claim short term is for Shopify? Fb ad
long term for Woocommerce? SEO

If I not wrong, some on Shopify is using their own domain to link to the shop?
so isn't same for SEO ?

and why Woocomerce is long term , seo ?

Thats just my personal preference. Its highly recommended to have a own domain when doing ecommerce.

Shopify is good when for shortterm, because I think its super easy to set up and import products. After that you can just send traffic like FB ads to it. Woocommerce takes more experience with Wordpress, it takes time to find a good theme, to set up the theme and so on.

On Woocommerce you have much more possibilities to customize your website. Especially when it comes to content. You have full control over your hosting. Basically Shopify could just disabled/suspend your account whenever they want (should not happen tho).

I got it, but isn't some doing shopify using their own domain? if I right? ok I got you the problem is the hosting still come from Shopfiy side.?
 
In case anyone reads this thread later and needs a good free theme for Woocommerce here's what you do:

Install Astra theme (free, one of the best popular wordpress themes) from wordpress theme search.

Install elementor plugin (free) from wordpress plugin search.

There will be some popup asking you to import Astra template sites, click it.

There's a section with many free eCommerce sites (and others) built with elementor and Astra ready for you.

Beautiful ecom store ready to customize, ezpz.

For bonus points, pick up the paid version of both from Festinger's vault for even more customization.
