Just use one subdomain and 301 redirect the other to the one you're using
for example, if you're using google.com, then 301 redirect http://www.google.com to google.com

Google treats subdomains as different sites, hence you should only build links to the one you're using

How does it show up when you click on the links in your blog?

Whatever the default is that is how you should be building your links, one way is not inherently better than the other you just want to match it to however your site is setup.

So, why is there www in some addresses, and in some there isn't?

And to not open another thread: which tool/site do you use to check the backlinks of your and other sites?
I used to use yahoo's tool, but that one's gone as far as I remember.

www is nowadays completely optional and it basically is just a subdomain like any other. It was first created to standardize where the web content is on servers so it's just a folder. If you choose not to use www in your domain be sure to redirect all the traffic from www.yoursite.com to yoursite.com to avoid Google or other search engines marking your site as two separate sites!

It doesn't matter - just make sure you don't have a copy of your site on both - that'd be considered duplicate content by search engines.

I typically go for with the www. as it's pretty standard.
