If you link direct to the site using threshold accounts you will get the domain banned on google.

Here is what I would do:
- I would build a new website for every threshold account.
- I would post one long review article around "5 best wine in UK". I would add 4 other products plus first product to be clients' with link in button.
- Now, I would add few more articles in the same blog related to wine like "why elderly should drink more wine" etc.
- Now, I would run ad to that long review page. I'm sure there will be high volume keyword like "best wine for BLA BLA" for Google UK.
I'm 100% sure that it will work. Try it please and thank me later!

Sorry but I don't think you can promote alcohol for sale unless your fully alcohol licenced very trick situation.

Basically, you need a license to sell alcohol the licence has to be from the premises the alcohol being sold.
If that all in place with a legal licence you're ok to promote your friends business.
