Windows10 about to drop?

I am dreading the day that all operating systems use that tile bullshit. Even Ubuntu has started using it an it makes everything so much slower. I hate all that fancy shit and I'd go back to the Windows 98 look if it meant I got something done faster.

Naah m8, I enjoy my Windows 8. I walked str8 into the store and said:"My PC is dead, I cant w8 to see original win 8 installed on my new sh8"
 
Here's how to get rid of that "Get Windows 10" tray icon:

1) Open Windows Update by going to Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Update, or search for it.
2) Click on Installed Updates on the bottom left corner.
3) Locate and select the Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3035583) update under Microsoft Windows section. You can search for KB3035583 in the search box on top left corner.
4) Click on Uninstall to remove the update.
5) Click Yes to confirm.
6) When uninstallation process is completed, restart the computer.

You're now free from Get Windows 10 system tray icon and Windows 10 free upgrade offer reservation nag screen.

You can put the classic start list on 8 and 8.1 on by installing classic shell.

Nice. Thnx for the fix m8 :)

So same old shenanigans from MS.... yea, there's no way I would upgrade at least until 6 months after the official release to allow them to fix and patch. Might run it in a VM some time down the road; but judging by the overall lackluster response to the new version, looks like I'll be sticking to Win 7 anyway LOL. Another homerun for M.$.
 
Apparently due 29th July worldwide and according to MS its a limited time free upgade ;)

I think Win 10 is a free upgrade even for users currently using a cracked version because they want to win back market share. I'm also pretty sure they skipped Win 9 because they didn't want confusion with the 90s versions of windows (Win 95/Win 98).

Can't remember the source but it's out there somewhere

Windows 9 was skipped because a lot of legacy programs were programmed to look for 9x in version compatibility back when Windows 95/98 were prevalent.
 
Windows 7 + Windows 8 = Windows 10.
I'm using 10 on virtual machine and its good, though I cannot differentiate between 7 and 10.

Lacklustre? I'm not sure where you are getting that from but from what I have seen the majority seems to be very positive about it. If you are looking at the bug reports then you should expect that on a release that is about 2 months off.

I agree about win8; you either liked it or hated it and the crowd that hated it were large in numbers but that is mainly due to its UI, the underlying OS was/is great and hopefully win10 will build on that while pandering a bit more to the crowd that hated the UI of the start screen.
 
Don't laugh, I remember windows 3.1 - It came on about 10 floppy disks.
Ah... those were the days..... 8k Ram was the dog's bollocks and a 14.4 modem could download a single pic in about 15 minutes :)

Yea, that was right around the time I got my first PC. And before that the 5inch Floppies and playing Sierra Quest Games via DOS ........ LOL. Looking back on it, it was really quite incredible what programmers and game developers were doing with the hardware at their disposal.
