Windows Vista or Win7 or Win8

i have vista and win 7 so far but i like win 7 more than win vista IMO will be getting win 8 in a months time

No Start Menu no Windows 8 for me. I know there is Metro but I don't need their unmanageable craplets and their confused command menu structure. However; I do need a hierarchical program menu for all the applications I run. Pinning apps to the desktop or to a toolbar is not going to cut it for me. Add to the aggravation some missing drivers and failed application support and it's time to wait for Windows 9. No corporation is going to move to this confused mess.

windows 7 ultimate for now, but can't wait to try windows 8 once it stable

I'm using windows 7, i don't like the feel of 8.

Used vista but that's not up to my level and windows 7 yes so far it works great for me,didn't tried windows 8 yet.

As the Success of Win 7 tells you that it is the best windows in the market and i m also loving Win 7 yet but also looking forward for Win 8 in the future

7 is beatiful. Haven't messed with 8 yet but have been hearing good things from folks whose judgement I trust and technical expertise I can vouch for. Avoid Vista at all costs. Shoot, I'd go with XP before Vista. Nightmare.

I'm hearing some real issues with drivers for Windows 8 but that could just be teething pains.

Vista is cluttered with pointless resource-hogging background applications. Windows 8 is big, blocky, childish, and Is basically the "Vista" after 7.
Windows 7 is Vista, except they fixed the compatibility issues, the theme is decent, it isn't resource hungry, as well is customizable and simple to navigate.

Using Window 7 ... have tried 8.. thats cool.

The rule of windows is good OS followed by terrible OS. So stay away from windows vista, get windows 7, wait for windows 9

I run Windows 7 and was thinking about 8. But damn looks like I will finally switch over to Mac.

Vista was and is a piece of shit. I haven't had to reinstall my Win7 in 2 years. Very stable. I'd avoid Win8 for a year in order to give MS some time to work out the bugs. However, I've read here on BHW that with an online coupon (available somewhere) you can upgrade to Win8 for $15.00. If I had Vista, I would definately do this cheap upgrade. If WinXP, maybe, maybe not. if Win7, I would hold off.

Also, those with interface objections, my experience with software developers is that they force you into the GUI they want you to have, and make you figure out how to make it look the way it used to. In this case, I think you could probably change the new look of Win8 back to something that closely resembles Win7.

If you think about it, it's too great of a risk for Microsoft to try to force people into the new GUI. They could just get stubborn and reject Win8 like they did Vista. Some people still refuse to upgrade from WinXP. They see no reason to. From their perspective, WinXP is "good enough". And Win7 is a much better operating system than WinXP, so people could be even MORE resistant to upgrading to Win8. There's no reason to Win7, and if they pollute Win8 to the point the everyone hates it (like they hate Vista), Win8 could completely flop and MS would create another generation of die-hard people that refuse to upgrade.

So, that's my long-winded reasoning to why I think it's possible to configure Win8 to look more like Win7. Too risky for MS to NOT provide the option.

linux + virtualbox if you have strong pc

I'm still using Vista on 3 pc's. Every OS change is so many hours of downtime making changes updating drivers trying to find things. Microsoft seems to never leave anything in the same place.

XP is simple and better than all

windows xp or 7. since xp is quite old go for w7. vista sucks big time. needs at least 4 g for RAM. haven't used w8
