Hey guys, I bought a dedicated server recently and ordered the "Windows Hyper-V Server 2008" OS. What I didn't know is that I wouldn't be able to access it through RDP i.e. it would have no virtualization option! So now I'm stuck and can access it through Putty only and was wondering if any of you know how I can install some other OS on it through Putty? Or do I really have to spend 20 more Euros to upgrade the server to Windows Server 2008 R2 Web.. Any help will be appreciated guys, I'm much of a noob when it comes to server related stuff.

You don't need to do that, just ask your host guys to allow RDP and you will be done!

Also, make sure to pass in an Inbound Rule in Firewall to allow RDP.

Just some side question, it's windows and you can access it with putty...

    Some options:
    1. If yes, try X11 forwarding ;) (You will need to install it tough)
    2. VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)
