Windows 8!!!!!!!!!

Is everyone really that clueless to how broad of a statement that is to say that you work for Microsoft? The sheer fact that someone works there does not mean that they have any control over anything software related. Do you realize that there are almost 100,000 employees of Microsoft that range in jobs from cooks, to cab drivers, to toilet scrubbers. Just because I say that I work for them does not mean I have any say in even the slightest things they do. Im the bottom of the food chain intern prototype assembler. Don't even get paid.
So your "guess" is nothing but a negative assumption because your panties are in a wad over nothing at all but a casual chat.

Hrmm let's start with a product stolen from Xerox, eventually figure out how to get it out of command line and into a GUI, work our way up to win 98/2000 which were decent efforts, Millenium was an abortion, XP was solid, Vista was a bad joke, 7 seems okay.

Yeah the odds of Windows 8 being absolute rubbish are better than even money.

You have registrated just to tell us how valuable Windows 8 is :). My post was ironic nothing more.

If you want to get into the "it sucks part" let's go :

1) MS has killed the Windows concept with this update and imposing an usage.
2) It is designed for tablets and touch screen device, how unconvenient it is to work with. They tried be the first in creating an OS for all devices, even though usages are drastically different. Marketing wise it is excellent "first to talk, first to bank from" but in practice it isn't quite optimized for a pro usage.
3) Assuming i get a touch screen i work 10 hours+ a day on a PC, i can't have my arm touching a vertical screen for 10 hours in a row, even shwarzy in his best days couldn't have
4) Professionals don't like changes because it is traduced in atrocious training costs + inefficiency costs.
5) Win 7 wasn't broken, it is the best OS MS has made with XP. Light, reliable, fast, and easy to use from the habits we had.

I won't even bother to try it if they don't change their view on the start button.

I have a web hosting company, are we supposed to manage the servers through this baby interface ?

My honest opinion is that it will depend on the user. What you use your computer for on a daily basis. Hackers/people that work from home may not be all gung ho about it but I can see the younger generations definitely enjoying the new interface. For older generation folk I think it will be a difficult switch because they have become so accustom to the old ways. But I think this "tablet" format may eventually become standard.
 
I'm sorry but I'll pass on Windows 8 and this is from a MS-DOS 3.3 user. As I said in another thread Windows 8 reminds me of Microsoft Bob with touchy craplets; it's enough to give Melinda Gate night terrors.

I'll rate Windows with Windows 7 being the best, followed by 2000 and then XP. And I don't want grimy fingers touching my desktop monitors, I got a tablet to sully for that.

I am not one who likes to quickly jump onto early releases of Windows.
Experience with MS products has shown me that it is always best to
wait until they work the bugs out and get it stabilized.

Remember Windows Millennium Edition? . . . and Vista? . . . . Yuck! :pat:

There sure is a lot of hate in this thread. It's understandable, as people tend to dislike changes. I applaud Microsoft for trying to bring a universal OS to all platforms. That's innovative thinking, and exactly what we need in a time where tablets have become the "next big thing." Being able to work on your desktop, and have everything waiting for you on your tablet is genius. It's a bold move, and bold moves are the only way to move forward and improve.

Running a full version of Quickbooks, Photoshop, etc, on a tablet? Genius. You don't like the metro tile interface? Swipe (or click) over to the standard desktop. Problem solved, running a full OS on your tablet (not Surface RT, but Surface Pro, coming later this year or early next year) is awesome. Gone are the days of using stripped down apps on a stripped down OS (I'm looking at you, Apple).

If you don't like it, don't upgrade. Simple as that, but it's here to stay and evolve, so might as well get used to it.
 
It's when you press the windows button. I've no problem about Windows 8 im using Pro.It boots faster than My Windows 7 Ultimate. Before I need to wait around a minute or so just to get to the log-on screen. Now I can get there with in less than 40 secs. if I'm not mistaken. I turn on the computer and viola I'm on the log-on screen. When I log-out I don't need to wait to. Click log-out and viola my computers turned off. :))) It's pretty nice I think.
 
Well! as microsoft tries to give its customers the best programs and utilities.Every new version or new release that microsoft releases is often better than previous ones.I will also upgrade my windows 7 with 8 in near future

I got Win 8 a few days before release through MSDN academic alliance program, and I must say I'moving Windows 8! Love the new metro interface even on a desktop PC, and you still have the Win 7 desktop which you can use. A couple of the default apps need to have some improvements but so far its great. Come to think about it I haven't had a single problem with any software or anything crashing. When I upgraded I kept all the software, documents and PC settings and everything has been compaitable. Oh and the last thing, it boots up really fast compared to other Win computers!
