Windows 8...What's your thoughts on it?

Today, a very close friend of mine had informed me about it and I decided to install it...booting times are super fast...can't wait to overclock and find out what's good

What's your take on it?

I like the fact that you can download the developer's ISO for free, and then run it on VPSes with your favorite IM software.

Windows 8 looks like a pretty good OS. The synchronization across all devices (desktop, laptop, tablet, phone) is a great idea.

If we follow Microsoft's tendency then win8 will be crap, I would rather wait for 9 or something like that.
Win2000 crap
XP rules
Vista Crap
Win7 rules

Haven't played with it yet, but everything I read and saw about it including being supposedly less demanding than win 7 is definitely interesting. The faster boot is alright I guess, but just like certain linux distros *cough* ubuntu *cough* that have been trying to boot in under 10s, I'm not really taking any particular advantage from it since I rarely even switch off my machines lol. On the other hand Metro looks pretty spiffy and I think it might be the missing piece to have something a little bit better than a toy-OS on a tablet. The wide adoption of Win8 would probably give some dignity to the tablets, definitely a step forward for the category from what they currently are: glorified gigantic ipod-touches with very few ways to be used to accomplish some REAL WORK..

I'm hoping all in one pc's become the norm so desktop pcs die out. It would save a lot of space having no more standard motherboard style pcs and just make things better for everyone.

I think Win8 WILL be good. I saw someone using it in my lecture the other day. But I will be sticking to Win7 until it comes more available.

will in run on a mac?

Gave up after vista-

Mac is bullet proof- however very few tools run on it.

I'll be using w7 for a while.

Damn Its very nice windows But I work hard to find its shutdown button for 15 more mins its quite change....

All-in-one PC's can only be so powerful before costing a lot. I prefer my desktop PC over anything. I spent $1200 on what would cost upwards of $3000 if they managed to squish everything into an all-in-one or laptop.

I saw Windows 8 review from youtube and any other related site.. looks like better than win7 features and so super fast to boot and even an old laptop can handle the installation with Windows 8 so it means super slim like a hot chick, yeah i can't wait to install it once it will be fully release to the masses..

All I want to know is if they give me back my classic menus, if not I will be staying with vista. I don't know what arrogant prick at Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to force there new menus on people with windows 7.

I just checked out one of the YT videos from Win 8 - and it looks really good. But it is still a long way until you will be really able to enjoy it on the computer. They don't even have yet a release date for it.
