Will you use an ordinary html sitemap with Google?
Yessir, use google xml sitemap plugin if you are using wordpress. Check out if you're interested in learning more about local seo strategies.
Why? Just use a text file listing all your urls or generate a proper xml one. HTML sitemaps are so 1999.

A long ago an html sitemap was one of factor for approving in google AdSense, but now its not really needed, though i still generate html sitemap for my WordPress based site, you know old habits die hard.
Like the others suggested, just use google xml sitemap plugin.
I'm using Yoast SEO. It creates the sitemap itself and you don't even have to submit it to search console.

Nope, XML is the way to go and it is easy to create one.
