Will "viagra" or spammy anchor text to a competitors negative attack post affect it?

I was reading somewhere that may be a form of negative SEO.

I am trying to sink what a competitor wrote about me using anonymous usernames.

He created a simple wordpress site and named it "Mybrandreviews.com". But I thought if I linked to it using his brand name that actually might sink it some, however according to Matt Cutts it might help it to.

Or instead of his brand maybe something like viagra would too. However, I like the idea of using his.

Nah man, just outrank them instead of trying to tank people left and right. That's some weak shit. Also, porn/viagra/spam links won't work nowadays. Nothing will happen, most likely.

Create a bunch of parasites and outrank him.

actually, that depends on the number of the links,
you can blast his website with spammy links, but you have to make sure they get crawled,
but, is it actually worth it? hell no, you'll waste your money and time trying to serve your own ego with no actual benefits
make some good positive reviews and outrank his WP website is the best option to go

Agreed here, it really is not worth the time and energy for something that isnt a guarantee. If it is a new website, and hes already ranking it would be pretty easy to push his site down the rankings.

Don't tank his but rank yours. Spend the time energy and effort on your site, he will tank on his own because he is not going to spend more time on that, he is done with it.
