Will using a wordpress theme's prebuilt website affect my SEO?

Hi, someone built a website for me, but instead of using a theme and starting from scratch, he uploaded a prebuilt website from the Newspaper theme and edited that one, will this affect my SEO by any means, or is it completely fine?

It's completely fine. Sites rank from content, on-site seo, technical optimizations, and off site optimizations. Not whether or not you site is a templated theme.

Thank you, some websites and youtube videos claimed that using these might mean that google won't crawl them due to duplicate HTML on different websites

Its ok really some are a bit more optimized for seo than others but it doesn't really matter.

As Coolsheet said focus on content etc...

Many dynamic themes also offer template packs, so this won't affect SEO as you optimize the title, meta, content, images, etc..
