    1. Background: BlackHat users purchase proxies and VPNs for their techniques because it's efficient to work from 1 location.

    2. Question: Could you walk into a 100 different coffee shops with free wifi - use your mobile phone - and achieve the same type of unique footprints?

    3. Theory: 100 different coffee shops each have their own IP address. Thus, it should beat algorithms on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter? Because each IP address represents '1 person.'

Theoretically, yes, but obviously you'd need to make sure you are cleaning up all of your other footprints.

Each IP address doesn't necessarily represent 1 person, otherwise after one person created a Twitter account at a coffee shop all other Twitter accounts created there would be banned, right?

Thanks Mentalist, can you briefly elaborate on the other footprints?

Cookies, similar names, similar emails, etc. Are all the accounts registered using the exact same automation pattern? If each registration took exactly 5 seconds and the mouse moved the exact same way every time that would be a red flag. Might want to mix up everything as much as you can, for example email host, browser used to register, etc.

This could work however wouldn't be very time effective. You're better off buying proxies. It's the same as driving through neighborhoods searching for unsecured wifi connections, connecting, and creating accounts on each one.

May as well just reset your router, it would have the same effect.

You'd still have to delete all your cookies and everything manually, as a simple IP address change won't get rid of those.

    I would say...

    MAYBE YES AND MAYBE NOT!

it does not mean because you move into a different cafe (ip address)... you get a unique ip address...

a good example is... you walk into a cafe with 20 computers and 10 of those computers are using facebook... and you use one computer that would make you the 11th user using the same IP address logged in into facebook...

another example is when you walked into a cafe with 20 computers and every is just playing games and no facebook users (which is impossible - everybody uses facebook).... so it will only be you using that cafe's IP ADDRESS
