I've got a site with a nice domain name that I want to start trying to rank for various MMO keywords. I want to eventually build it out into a nice semi-authority site. But the problem is I've got a sub-domain attached. On the sub-domain I've got a squeeze page which I've been using to build a list. And I've been promoting the squeeze page by a lot of comment spam on youtube. The comments are not complete links. i.e. It's not a clickable link. They look like this "bit.ly/gvhGu" and do not appear on youtube as a clickable link. The user has to paste that into their browser and then they are redirected to my page. My question is this.... is my main domain (not the sub domain) completely fucked and unrankable since I've got a load of those links pointing to the sub-domain? My thinking is no because 1) spiders can't follow the link (or can they?) and 2) a lot of sites like Top 10 Reviews set their site up with many various sub-domains, and my thinking is that they do that so if one goes down it won't affect the others. BUT I'm not sure and dont want to waste time and money on it if its going to be a problem... so thought I'd throw it out here to see what you think. Well?
