Will this scare fiverr buyers?

Recently I started offering a high quality writing gig on fiverr that has become rather successful.

Initially I just needed some quick cash but now this gig is offering a reliable source of income for me.

What upsets me is that I'm not earning my full worth. The % that fiverr is taking really adds up.

I have a fair amount of repeat customers that really enjoy my services and have even offered to pay me more.

I was just wondering if telling buyers that I offer a service for the same price ($5 + additionals) on my own website via paypal, would it deter them from buying from me?

My idea is to set up a website and go the whole nine yards with it. From a automatic paypal delivery system to a messaging center, this website will have it all. (Much like natashanixon)

Then once I make a sale with a customer, I will direct them to my website with a promotional offer (20% off for high paying customers)

I have a good and bad news for you.

The bad news is, what you are trying to do is completely against the TOS of Fiverr and am sure they won't hesitate to ban you when you are caught. You have to ask yourself, are you ready to lose your income on Fiverr? And another thing most people won't feel comfortable buying directly from your site because they won't be able to get there money back if anything goes wrong.

The good news is, you can also do very well by starting a sales thread here and other relevant forums and sell for $5.
The reason why you need a sales thread here is to build your reputation by giving out some discount reviews and asking your
clients to post good reviews on the thread. Without this you may not be able to grow fast.

Once you become successful introduce your site to them and tap traffic from all angles, SEO and Paid ads at that point you can
start increasing your fees.

if you do this you are liable to be banned by fiverr and like legendking said a lot depends on the trust you have built so far...

If they offered you to pay more, why don't you raise the prices? Or decrease the number of words per gig. Less work and more cash... is that the reason why you're trying to avoid paying to fiverr?

I made my first online money on fiver with a single gig selling forum backlinks, I was having a lot of success with the gig so I created a website and promoted it to the fiver customers and doubled my earnings. So it's defiantly worth doing in my opinion

Fiverr is ridiculous with those 20% fees. For comparison elance fee is 8.75% and freelancer.com is 5% with $50 membership.

Fiverr is good to start. Now you need to scale up your work and make unique website to ask for more money for your quality services.
You can use FIverr as certifiction of your Feedbacks and get customers from Google and socials.

20% of fee it's really a lot but you've to consider that without Fiverr your activity were impossible or less known.

I have a technique that allows me to sneak my e-mail in there, I've never been banned and I'm currently a Level 2 seller.

I've actually found plenty of long-term clients that pay incredibly well (through PayPal, mind you!), so that's always nice.

It might be time to scale your services and look towards places like here to sell your service.
