I have a question about SEO. I currently have two websites - one is my main business website which is ranking well, and the other is also doing okay. I'm considering renovating the second website, but I'm wondering if it would be better to redirect or forward that website to my main website instead. How long will the redirected website maintain its rank before it starts to lose its ranking? Also, I should mention that my main website is built on WooCommerce, while the other website is built on Easy Digital Downloads and has a different page/category structure.

I don't think you'll lose the rankings at all if you, first, re-create the pages (URL slug + content) on site 1 (woocommerce) exactly as they are on site 2 (EDD) and, then, redirect correctly (ie. every URL that's ranking from site 2, to its newly created page on site 1). In theory, this should not cause ranking drops
 
So you want to redirect entire EDD site to your main Woocommere site?

Your EDD site will loose the rankings and the weightage they hold will be passed on to the main Woocommerce site.

If in future you want to rebuild the EDD site with new posts, it will be a very challenging task for you. So think twice before making the decision.
 
My suggestion is things like "redirect" should be avoided since they will have an impact on the traffic you already have. Hence, all you have to do is plan and develop your website.
 
Redirect for a specific URL (not whole website) will not effect your traffic and ranking. But it will be best choice if you do not redirect your website.
 
I wouldn't recommend merging the two
Keep them separate and split your workload between the two

As long as the content is perfectly moved with the link structure intact, create URL to URL redirection and you should be good to go. I've done this with a lot of my websites in the past and it always give good results in terms of SEO due to merged authorities of both sites.
