Will this rank?

Ok so im thinking about creating a recipe website/blog. The problem is I dont have any of my own recipes. I dont have time to rewrite recipes.

So if I took pictures of recipes from other websites, ebook etc and just uploaded an image for every recipe would this rank? Or do I have to have some sort of written content on each recipe page?

Well you need like 600+ words to have a good onpage seo . The content needs to be unique and not duplicated

if you are going to copy other websites recipe, you can get sued

A lot of the recipes I want to copy are very basic recipes. They dont even have anywhere near 600 words.

So a website with just images will not rank?

Don't think so. If you look up recipes for something, usually very high authority sites rank that list the recipes, otherwise it's recipe bloggers or whatever you wanna call them that write their own stories of picking up groceries and cool shit they saw on the way and other BS intermixed with the recipe, giving them very long word counts.

You don't have to write it yourself. You can hire content writers to do it for you.

You probably want to write out the recipe in text, and then have some sort of relevant picture or youtube video on the page as well.

Will it rank? No.

The reasons why any website would rank is because search engine bots can read the text that we type. They can probably also read text on images but search engines will give waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more 'link-juice' to actual typed out text over images any day.

Go ahead and search for 'hotdog recipe' and look at the type of links that rank, they have actual typed out recipes. The only way I can see images ranking is if you upload them to popular social sites like pintrest, reddit, instagram, and have really great marketing to expose those images to your audience...but even that's going to require an extreme amount of work.
