I work for yearly contract basis, provide full support & maintenance.
Thanks for your inputWhen I was 16 I actually did this - I would meet in person though.
Once you talk with them over email it's meh and phone kinda'v helps
But if you are solid at sales and ask them questions about their business and tell them how a website can benefit them
They will more than likely purchase just because they are a business owner as well and they can relate with you.
You just make it seem like "you're a small guy" and they usually just buy because of that.
Charging monthly is where it gets difficult as you'd have to actually provide value - Some people don't see the "point" in websites.
(At least from where I'm from - they are all old timer business owners.)
I feel like if you target mid-sized businesses vs small businesses you'll have much more success and more lenient price negotiations.
