will this hurt SEO?

You could noindex the page, or - you can host it on an external platform if you’re getting visitors to fill out surveys after the fact :)

Alternatively, you can just cite it, i.e a read more link - to second some of the answers above, google won’t care so much about your blatant copypasta, but citing it allows you to turn it into something positive if you were to let’s say add more content to the page.

First, you have to forget about all the answers above.. Really, I don't know where this forum is going to.. !

Second, I will answer your question in points :-

1 - There is no such a thing as duplicate content penalization. Google don't care about you copying other people content, however, the real owners does and might file a DMCA Complain. As long as they don't, google don't give a s**** ... So, duplicate content penalty is a myth.

2 - So, what does google do when it faces 2 same pieces of content ? They show the one on the more authoritative domain and archive the other. So, if ranking is your goal, you will need either very high authoritative domain to replace the original publisher page in the serps, or you will need unique content.

3 - If you are using copyrighted unique content, like from a book or whatever, then, point number 1 applies, it will rank, but i the original owner files a DMCA complain, google will be forced to remove it.

Hope this clarifies you question.

My recent try forces me to agree all of your point.

I recently build one page with all copy+paste and was able to land in top 10 pages.

Hmm I am not really agree with the point 2, as far as I know, Google check the date of creation from the 2 sames pieces of content and decide to rank the oldest one that it considers to be the original. Authority is not so important here, because otherwise it will be far to easy for the high authority domain to steal content.

Yeah, its really hard to change articles publishing date .. !

halo SEO gurus and BHW friends, seek for your advice

i have a project that need to use some no copyright articles available on the internet and copy and paste them to my website.

then will ask users based on that file to do some quizzes.

i wonder how to prevent the SEO penalized or hurt? is iframe an solution?

Hi! I have a similar project, I found niche articles but on other languages, then translate them and correct..all content was unique

Duplicate content only applies within your own domain. There are hundreds of websites with the same content on and they are all competing. The best one will rank, the others don't get penalised, they just get out ranked.

News site syndicate content all the time and do fine. They may not rank first for everything but they don't get penalised.

So many poor, regurgitated answers in this post. And what is funnier is they carry on shouting the same crap even after the one solid answer has been posted as they can't be bothered to read other replies first

That isn't true either, i have lots of leadgen sites with 1000+ pages with 98% of the same content on the same domain ranking for years now, there is no dup content penalty, period.

Why these so called expert think there is, is beyond me i know for sure that they NEVER run any test to come to that conclusion, must be learned from one of the Google mouthpieces as MOZ or searchengineland

So called EXPERTS says it from experience and learning. You should also read some stuff like this:

Source: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66359?hl=en

"If your site contains multiple pages with largely identical content, there are a number of ways you can indicate your preferred URL to Google. (This is called "canonicalization".) More information about canonicalization.

However, in some cases, content is deliberately duplicated across domains in an attempt to manipulate search engine rankings or win more traffic. Deceptive practices like this can result in a poor user experience, when a visitor sees substantially the same content repeated within a set of search results.

Google tries hard to index and show pages with distinct information. This filtering means, for instance, that if your site has a "regular" and "printer" version of each article, and neither of these is blocked with a noindex meta tag, we'll choose one of them to list. In the rare cases in which Google perceives that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we'll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved. As a result, the ranking of the site may suffer, or the site might be removed entirely from the Google index, in which case it will no longer appear in search results.
