halo SEO gurus and BHW friends, seek for your advice

i have a project that need to use some no copyright articles available on the internet and copy and paste them to my website.

then will ask users based on that file to do some quizzes.

i wonder how to prevent the SEO penalized or hurt? is iframe an solution?

It’ll definitely hurt your seo as you’re using copied content, instead of using copied content why not pay writers here to rewrite the content for you, this way you’ll have unique plagrism free content.

There is a better solution: just canonicalize the URLs
So you can generate the rel canonical dynamically if the user that insert that content puts also the url where it comes from

If its WP based, yoast seo for example, have an option to set the canonical within the article.

Any content that is a blatant duplicate will hurt SEO. No two ways around it.

First, you have to forget about all the answers above.. Really, I don't know where this forum is going to.. !

Second, I will answer your question in points :-

1 - There is no such a thing as duplicate content penalization. Google don't care about you copying other people content, however, the real owners does and might file a DMCA Complain. As long as they don't, google don't give a s**** ... So, duplicate content penalty is a myth.

2 - So, what does google do when it faces 2 same pieces of content ? They show the one on the more authoritative domain and archive the other. So, if ranking is your goal, you will need either very high authoritative domain to replace the original publisher page in the serps, or you will need unique content.

3 - If you are using copyrighted unique content, like from a book or whatever, then, point number 1 applies, it will rank, but i the original owner files a DMCA complain, google will be forced to remove it.

Google never says no to duplicate content unless there is duplicate content within the same domain.

But if you are going to use it on a fresh domain its not gonna work for you. As Google does give priority to the high authority domains only when it comes to the same content on multiple sites.

Those DMCA complain will start getting in only when your website start getting some traffic improvements or start getting good visibility on the search results.

To avoid some copyright issues you can use "canonical tags" or "credit the original source at the end" both Nofollow and ******** will work.

It will hurt more than it will help. Invest into getting some articles. Even if they are not high quality they will at least be unique.

Duplicate content will not bring your website in trouble but it will not help either.

Original will rank not your site. (if it is ranking)

<iframe> will probably work. Make sure to noindex the source.

Unless you bring some new original content into the mix at least partially, I don't see your SEO campaign going well.

Also, if you plan to do this on scale I would get permission from the author.

That isn't true either, i have lots of leadgen sites with 1000+ pages with 98% of the same content on the same domain ranking for years now, there is no dup content penalty, period.

Why these so called expert think there is, is beyond me i know for sure that they NEVER run any test to come to that conclusion, must be learned from one of the Google mouthpieces as MOZ or searchengineland
