i have car review site but i have pictures off it that took from google and their sites?
would i get sued for this?but base of what i wrote,i give all good advise and opinion?

or where can i get pictures of cars without getting sued?

I'm not 100% sure on that so I will leave that one for someone else to answer, but whenever I am worried about that I look for sites that offer images with "creative commons license" then you know you are good to use them. I find myself using flikr for this. http://www.flickr.com/search/advanced/?q= You usually just need to credit the author, I will usually do this by placing a very faint water mark on the image of the author in the corner of the image, that way if I ever wonder where I got the image and am looking for more I can blow the image up and look at it, and I know if I run into issues (haven't yet), that I can tell them I attributed the author.

I forgot to mention, when doing the advanced search, just check the "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content" box and if you are using it commercially check that box and it will filter all the results down to things that you can use.
 
One DMCA complaint and the site is down, two or three and it's out for the count....
 
Probably not, even if copyright owners notice it, they'll send you c&d first, asking you to remove the picture.
 
I agree with you dude. @op No worries...not much they can do but if you don't comply with their request though they can sue the pants off you.

What is so special about those car photos? Usually copyright holders sue people for using their unic content or ideas that makes them money. A car photo is a car photo. You can make those photos walking down the street. Modify the photos a little, censor the plates if necesary and you will be safe.

You can't actually predict that. First of all, they won't sue a site that is not very popular because there won't be any profit after these charges. Second - the whole internet is full with stolen images so that's kind of normal nowadays.
However, you could get in trouble if you start to sell commercial materials including these images.
 
Bing image search now has filters for public domain, free to share and use, free to share and use commercially, free to modify, share, and use, and free to modify, share, and use commercially.
 
I'd make sure it's easy to be contacted if someone wants something removed. This will avoid them going over your head to your host. Other than that I'd advise going after ideas more safe in the future. This way you can build a long term business with less worries. My 0.02
 
Don't do that. Try to look for free stock photo sites or public domain sites to find suitable pictures.
 
Take your own images and do some photoshop on them. I think that some PS skill is essential for any good blogger/webmasters in today's world filled with nosey image copyright (violations) lawyers or whatever they are calling themselves.

Images on most website / blogs do not need to be top class in looks if the content is good. Readers would notice that there are images and they would only see them for a few seconds, and they would actually like to read the content more, unless your site is one of those "only images-content" type.
 
i think you can take them, just flip it or change the contrast, change the title, crop it a bit.. it should be fine

A simple credit to the image without linking or anything fancy will save you lots of trouble. Even if they tell you to take it down eventually, the credit avoids the deliberate copyright infringement charge.
 
the internet is full of images taken by many people that never claim Copyrights
just use popular images hosting sites to find what u r looking for
and if u r that serious u can take the suggestions given br srb88 , bartosimpsonio , GiorgioB and other users
 
Over 99% of images have copyright attaching to them.

Why the hell people think they can just steal images just because they can is quite beyond me.

I also don't understand why the hell people think that just because they found images via Google it's OK to use them. It's not!

If you used my images without permission I'd sue the arse of you (and win). I know plenty of people that search on a daily basis for unauthorised images, and if you start to mess with the likes of Getty you will be screwed.

People are happy to pay for written content - pay for images as well (or use appropriate CCL).
 
I used to run a site where I would stream episodes of a certain TV show. I got a DMCA telling me to remove the videos and the pictures. I just removed the videos and haven't heard from them since, so you should be good.
 
If you are worth their time for suing, they probably will. In most cases, they will notify you to take down the images. To be safer next time, look for images that are available for public use.
