Im switching hosts and platforms so the site will be down for like 2 days. Will this affect my seo rankings?

It shouldn't but it might if you have a lot of competitors with similar content. Google would rather show users second best content than 404 page.

I would switch to new platform in dev environment and then publish it live and switch dns after so that you have full websites on both old and new hosts until dns propagates and then you can cancel old host.

I’m going to be honest, that much downtime might affect your ranking a bit. Have you looked into hosting services that can move your site without that much downtime though? That seems like a lot.

Ranking changes everyday. So if you are about to change the host, you should not think about the ranking.

@b00m666 - Can you switch to your new hosting company without the downtime? Personally, I do not think that a downtime of 48 hours or more is appreciated by the search engines. For example, if Google Bot re-crawls your site and gets the information about extended downtime, it can negatively impact your rankings. Perhaps you can find a solution on how to switch to your new host without such a long downtime? Try to set up everything on your new host and only change to the new name servers until you're fully ready. However, if you aren't in a competitive niche, then it could also be fine I guess.

Why not just, build site on new platform on new server with other domain, and then just point your domain to new server, that way you will not get a lot of downtime, only 1-2 hours depending to DNS service.

And if your site would be down fro like 2 days then it might effect the rankings if G is crawling your site.

Yes, the downtime you mentioned is quite long and such downtime will affect you negatively.

2 days is a very short time so most likely not.

However, technical SEO is also part of optimization. Your rankings might go slightly up or down depending on the performance of the server. Which will influence user metrics.
