Make sure the content and the domain which is relevant to your site. Don't insert many outgoing links in one post. Don't accept many sites from the same person. Content should be unique, need to be great. Don't give any account information of your site at any point.
If it's relevant, it will actually boost your traffic and rankings. Make sure to build internal links to boost your own article which also helps the guest post article.
It totally can if you don't carefully choose the websites you're going to link to. If you are linking to a spammy site, it can affect you, or if the link builder decides to send some (not so good) backlinks to the guest post.
If you sell guest posts exclusively on your website, then it will definitely hurt your rankings after a period of time.
How to avoid this?
1. Keep posting genuine articles of your own on your blog.
2. Add a few (minimum 2) internal backlinks of your own website in the guest post article.
3. Add authority links to relevant blogs in your niche in the guest article (and also on other articles of your site).
