My website was removed for DMCA complaint, so I took the website and put a new domain on it and 301 redirected my previous domain to that new domain.. will I re-rank for my keywords?

Not for long - that is for sure. 301 passed also a penalty so exect the next slap from Gooogle.

Check if you can change your backlinks to a new domain.

It would be better if you would start with a fresh domain. You can't get rid of DMCA complaint.

It worked before, for about 6~ months
Edit: Is it possible to change my website from www.mysite.com to www2.mysite.com and that works fine? I see other sites do that

Is your site related to copyright content like movies / tv shows?

I don't host to them, I just embed them yes from outside soruces that've uploaded them

I think the only way to keep ranking is to use googles change of address tool so your likely screwed

It will rank for the old keywords in the exact same location in SERPs as your penalised domains but for a limited time, how long, well google decides that

erm... maybe in a long time but from my experience I know that it takes a hell of a long time to gain google's trust again, especially on the same domain. IMO best of starting again with another domain.

The purpose we are using the 301 redirect is to pass the link juice of the old site. So if the previous site had been penalized you are passing it also to the site you are redirecting .
