Will my status be "Newbie" forever?

I was reading in another tread that there might be a bug in the system:

Its a bug in the system. You will notice that you are also a newbie. You will be permanently stuck at newbie no matter how many posts you make etc. Also you will never have the option to upload an avatar. Most unfortunate. Try and get someone to reset your account or go ahead and get yourself banned. When the ban lifts everything will be fixed. Worked for me.

And the FAQ state that:

Avatars - In order to upload a custom avatar, you must be a member of the forum for at least 30 days and have at least 50 quality posts. If you do not have 50 posts or 30 days on the forum, you may still upload one of our standard avatars by clicking here. Note that it may take an hour or more for the forum to update your post count.

I have been a member since 02-22-2011 and have currently over 200 posts. My status on bhw is "newbie" and I'm not able to upload my own avatar.

Is there someone who can fix this error?

Contact Harro or one of the mods. They might be able to solve this.

Yeah, it's the same for me it sucks

I really hope someone can fix this. I've heard that one way to fix it is to get banned and when the ban is gone I will be fixed. But I don't want to be banned.

hey guys, the status change does not only depend on number of posts; it depends on some factors like for how long have you been a member. Everything should be ok, because the forum has great mods on it who make sure that everything is running good

it doesn't really matter. Nobody judges you based on that. (It's more on number of thanks and rep)

If you donate you can change it to whatever you want

But why cant I have a custom avatar or a signature? In FAQ it says that you will be able to have it when you've been a member for 30 days and have 50 posts. I have that. So why is that so?

I don't know who fixed the bug, but it looks like I won't be a "newbie" forever

and I'm also able to change my avatar. Thanks a lot to the mod who fixed it

@Chees - great humor.

@LiamLC - I agree with the rep and thanks, but it also affects the opportunity to upload your own avatar.

@247hustle - yhaa. This is the first time I have had the opportunity to make such a title

@ehinoze - It appear that someone have solved the problem. Just for the record - my post was not a complaint. Only a post to make the mods aware of a small glitch in the system, because they might not be aware of it.

Anyway - thanks again to whoever solved the problem

I have the same problem on my account.

I've been registered over a year and still unable to change my avatar. I know I've only made a couple posts but when I first registered I was new to blackhat and had nothing juicy to share.

Now that I do, I would like to at least be able to change my avatar. And please, can I have regular member status? Anything but newbie. I won't attempt to share my experiences or trial & error methods under a newbie tag, what's the point?

Just wanted to ask how you got this problem fixed if it really is a glitch. Who should I PM?

You only have 2 posts. Your status changes after you make around 50 quality posts.

I'm in the same boat, I was just testing out this avatar a couple weeks ago and ended up getting stuck with it!

I mentioned why I only have a small amounts of posts. Isn't it better to post nothing than a bunch of spamming comments just to get more?

My point is, I've been here a year and have been learning blackhat for a year. Fine if my status doesn't change but I should be allowed to change my avatar.

It's not like I'm asking for VIP. Just regular member.

I've seen other who have been here a year and have over 50 posts they still got newbie and default avatars. So whatever, I'm not that bothered. I'll just keep on reading and saying thanks. :baby09:
