The other guy in the image Marco Pantani a banned doper died in 2004 of a non cycling related overdose of cocaine leaving behind a bank account with over $30 million USD in credit! That gives readers some idea of the money these pro cyclists made in their careers?

Back to Lance Armstrong is at a crossroads he has lost all his sponsors and has a bucketful of money claim back lawsuits filed against him totally tens of millions of dollars that if he loses the cases he will have to pay back? Meaning payback will likely clean him out as he only has maybe a $100 million or so left ? payback plus legal fees et al should take care of that lot?

He is now between the ?Rock and the Hard Face!? If he admits guilt he will get dealt with, but in his favor then in US society he will be given a second chance, meaning that after say 5 years or so he will be able to start earning again?

He could take it two ways, come out and admit it and gain a little bit of dignity in the process or never say anything on the matter again and just deny it

The only problem with this planned interview is that Oprah will not have the guile and street wide nous needed to unlock Lance Armstrong who is made of, excuse the pun 'Balls of Steel!'

Honestly, I wish the best for him. Some in my family have cancer and they face the same type of bullshit in their life. I'm not gonna go into details, but it doesn't have to deal with steroids or anything illegal. Honestly, if he admits it, I'm hoping they give him a nice little plea out or settlement (which, with the legal representation he'll get, shouldn't be TOO hard).

he'll admit guilt, take a ban, inform on everybody else, and then be free to compete in Triathlons. He's too competitive to slip into obscurity.

Three years ago, February 2010, another great champion admitted to his extramarital affair and apologized. Half the world spat at him then. Today everything is forgotten and he is a Golf hero once again (is he?).

Guess what? Everybody in the sports takes doping in one form or another. Its their agent/manager/lobbiest that keeps things under the radar. But when things between them go wrong, see what happens...

Armstrong's problem is that while he's been publicly denying doping, he's been calling those that have watched him do it liars. I'm constantly amazed at what stupid people are willing to believe, i.e. Michael Jackson was innocent, OJ was "involved" but "someone else" actually did the murders, etc...

And then, it's like if you are against Armstrong, you are somehow in favor of cancer. So we all have to stand around and pretend that Armstrong is something other than a lying, cheating, low-life motherfucker, otherwise children are going to die of cancer.

Truthfully, this dissonance is more than the universe can bear, and it's just a matter of time before Armstrong winds up dead, from suicide, overdose, or some crazy accident.

The pro cycling world has plummeted into disarray viz a vie Armstrong and his drug taking cohorts, however if Armstrong sings then out of the woodwork a motley bunch of officials will be exposed! Personally I fear if that scenario were in the pipeline then a crazy accident might all of a sudden by an option thrown on the table as a way out to safeguard the officials from being publicly outed and exposed as corrupt and dishonest pro cycling rule makers...

This story has legs, with more to come that is for sure...

Acknowledging his doping past has cleared the way for Armstrong to take the next step in trying to mitigate his lifetime ban from Olympic sports. He is planning to testify against several powerful people in the sport of cycling who knew about his doping and possibly facilitated it, said several people with knowledge of the situation.

Armstrong, 41, is planning to testify against officials from the International Cycling Union, the worldwide governing body of cycling, about their involvement with doping in cycling, but he will not testify against other riders, according to the people familiar with his plans.

He is also in discussions with the United States Department of Justice to possibly testify in a federal whistle-blower case.
