The title says it all... just wondering if a video can get a good ranking for a keyword by building backlinks to it? Will google rank a YouTube page for a geo-targeted keyword?

I currently get most of my views because someone has embedded the video on their blog, best to try and make videos people would share on their website and blogs is the best method i can see at the moment.

You can build backlinks to help it rank organically yeah, but I don't believe it has any effect in youtube itself, just when people are finding it in search engines.

Yes. It works for just about any page on the internet: The more backlinks, the higher it will be in the search engines.
