I've got a site that's getting on for three years old. It's got a DA of 22. I've let it sit in the English serps, and it ranks page one in various different positions for the keywords I've targetted.

I've spotted an opportunity for it in another language, so I've cloned the site onto a sub directory and translated it. Will the fact my site is established mean it will rank quicker and not have me stuck in the sandbox for the translated language serps?

I think the existing domain authority can help but I would not expect an automatic ranking boost just because the domain is old The translated section still needs proper localization and relevant signals I would also use hreflang correctly so Google understands the language versions

I’d expect it to help somewhat. The domain already has history and authority, so Google may disscover and trust the new pages faster. But the language market is still new, so rankings arent guaranteed.

Yes, the existing domain authority can help, but it doesn’t guarantee a faster ranking process. The translated section still needs to build relevance and trust in that language, so expect some testing and indexing time. hreflang + proper localization can help a lot.
