Will HTML be replaced by any new technology?

I see various frameworks being launched that promise Rich Ui and better User experience as they call it. Silverlight, Flash, Yahoo's new framework etc etc.


Does this mean that over a period of time these frameworks will replace the existing HTML, JAVASCRIPT , CSS based web applications?


Wouldn't it be same as opening an application inside a browser window?

I don't think that HTML will ever be replaced. It just will be upgraded with new features and options, same like HTML 5 was years ago...

I don't think HTML5 is going to go away anytime soon. Of course,
you'll always have your RIAs like Silverlight, Flex and what-not, but I
don't see them being a threat to the HTML standard at all.

HTML is just too widespread now, and thankfully now that finally we're
in an era where browser vendors are supporting the standards, it's just
not going to be feasible to switch over to something new.

Remember Google Wave and their ambition of replacing email?

HTML + CSS is widely use.

But jarvis is coming. lol

HTML 5 is STILL under development. They aren't completely finished with it according to W3.

at some point html will be replaced with something else but not in near future and definitely not with Flash

Flash is being phased out by a combination of CSS3 and HTML5. Adobe said they're not going to upgrade it or anything like that.

HTML won't be replaced by any new technology because HTML itself is pretty good and leightweight. It is always evolving and will continue to do so. HTML5 has a lot of things to offer already. I can only see a bright future for HTML.
