Will having strictly non-follow backlinks do anything for your site?

I was wondering whether creating only non-follow links on sites like Quora will help the website ranking in any way?

I am asking because in certain cases it is simply hard to get the do-follow backlinks you would like.

It will help traffic. Traffic will help signals and natural backlinks, which will in turn help ranking - so yeah in a way it does. But try to get some f0llow links too.

One time I saw site with tons of backlinks like that. It didn't work at all, as much as I remember.
