I had 714 EUROS in my Adsense account in February 2014 (all of it accrued through purchased clicks) and on the morning of the payment I woke up to log into my Adsense account to see whether the money had been sent but I was unable to log in because my account had been closed. And I obviously haven't seen any money, either

Sorry, I didn't get you right. Did you mean he won't get the money because it's less than 100$ or just because the account was banned?
Because of a recent update, even if your account is banned you still get your money, I just don't remember what's the minimum you need to have to get it.

I wasn't following their rules. I mean, in the beginning (1-2 years prior to getting banned) I followed the rules of Adsense and tried doing everything by the book. I don't remember everything I've done / not done back then because I was pretty newbie at SEO in general and at making money with Adsense in particular, so I don't remember the specifics if that's what you want to know.
But the point is that after 1 year or so of cashing only (low) monthly cheques (of $200-300) I got frustrated with the work I was doing and the low payment, so I went onto Fiverr and purchased clicks for a few months... well, until I got caught. I think I've been able to cash out once ($500-something if I remember correctly), but the next month - like I said - right on the day of the payment being sent they have closed my account.
The interesting thing is that I never felt any remorse whatsoever (and I'd do it again if I had the same determination), I just shrugged my shoulders and moved on from Adsense for good. I don't regret it one bit
