So we have all heard about the viral game flappy bird, which makes $50k a day for the dev. Dong Nguyen.
22 hours ago Dong tweeted (@Dongatory) that he has had enough and was deleting the game in 24 hours.
Loads of people are taking this seriously, but personally I see no reason why he would do this. What do you think?

Well actually the game just was removed from the appstore officially!

I don't get it.. If a sane person had had enough of his $50k/day app, why on earth wouldn't he just leave it alone and let it make him whatever money it's going to make. It makes no sense to intentionally destroy such a cash cow. I had a read around his twitter and I still don't get it.

Like wtf did he expect? if he had played the game he would have realised how frustrating it was? and is a game going viral not what these game devs want? i think he will get a lot more beef now for deleting it.

Was he really having legal issues even though he stated that he didn't?

Sometimes is not all about money. That's why some people are not successful.

i installed the game couple of hours ago and deleted it after playing it for like 30 minutes :D i didn't realize the developer was planning on deleting it

They are using the same old marketing tactic. Make it viral while its free then launch the paid version later or gain insane PR coverage and following due to the news. Overall a good marketing tactic which works just fine.

I bet someone will make a niche out of this game. It's been removed from the app store, all someone needs to do is upload it and content lock it and then drive traffic to it, a churn and burn site would work very well.

So what you are really telling us is that there is another niche opening up right now >>Download Flappy Bird Original<< :)

Edit: Lmao posted in the same minute.

I'm actually okay with it being gone.

This game was destroying my life T_T

Here's why:

it's awesome how he made $50k a day! That's actually pretty impressive. I heard a story about a game called faster than light, they expected to sell like 1,000 copies and they ended up selling over a million. I can understand how some people say he doesn't deserve to make $50k a day but hey that's just how life is. I personally think its awesome how he made $50k a day from less than a few weeks worth of work.
