Will ChatGPT replace programmers?

No, because software development is more about connecting the dots than drawing them.

I use google and copy/paste from stackoverflow/whatever all the time.

You need to know what to copy and where to paste it, no AI will be able to do so for a long time.

In other words, ChatGPT is/will be a fancier way of how to google things.

I tried it to generate functions tho, I was annoyed it writes them slowly, I need to see the code immediately to decide if I want to copy it or not.

I don't think so. Still now ChatGPT is quite new and not capable that enough. On the other hand, customer specifications are very complex and dynamic. Chat GPT must evolve a lot to replace programmers.

No, it's like an advanced take note full of content with an advanced search, it only gives you the right snippets (pieces) then the programmer is responsible to join the pieces.

Not at all. Did StackOverflow replace programmers or rejoiced it? The same way CGPT does it for programmers. Future programming is all about innovation and the machine learning models only can improve but not innovate. Just think from the perspective of a Data Scientist.

No, StackOverflow even put out an announcement that ChatGPT results are not supposed to be used to answer questions on their platform because the coding is not up to par for a programmer as yet. Maybe in the future, it could, but as of now. It can't

He said in the future, so the answer is yes.
Will cars be able to fly in the future? Yes.
Will we be able to have interstellar commercial travel in the future? Yes.

there is already another upgrade that allows you to use different AI learning methods to have chatgpt write code in various languages.

works great.

Will ChatGPT make programmers obsolete? Hell yes. Us programmers should be considering a different career path in the next 3 years. Will that career change will involve programming?

Did I satisfy every business person on here because I told them what they wanted to hear? You betcha I lied to you guys :p

On the other hand, software development will still be there. It just won't be flooded with CRUD apps. It will actually be more complex and titles like Wordpess or Frontend developers will go away just like cubed ice delivery men.

So the short answer, yes programmers will be obsolete but they will still be doing coding.

This will never happen because many complex programming languages have to be done by programmers. This will give you a basic idea of programming. this is not enough, not capable

NO WAY!!! It's not about knowing how to write... Everyone knows how to write nowadays... Go write a novel LOL.

Anything is possible lol remember all those that said btc would never get up to 1000$ we it did

It seems a lot of people don't realize ChatGPT simply does what stackoverflow and google already did. It's just faster and less reliable. If what it does was enough to replace programmers, then google and stackoverflow would already have replaced programmers. Not saying that maybe one day it won't, but it sure as hell won't be this version of ChatGPT.

i would post the link to the chatgpt upgrade for coding and programming but i dont want to get another strike... but trust me guys do some research and you will see how many tweaks there already are. i cant imagine what it will be in 2 more months.

i suggest working with it to improve the amount of work you can do, and so increase your marketing and advertising to people who dont know how to utilize ai yet. more clients, less work.... more free time and more money. why complain when you can capitalize now.
