Hi,

Let's say I have a category page: http://www.xxx.com/shoe/Nike-men-running-shoe

if I build the backlink to this category page, is that also beneficial to my category page: http://www.xxx.com/shoe?

It is, as long as the /shoe/Nike-men-running-shoe page is linking to the /shoe page, which in an ecommerce/blog type structure it really should be. Building links to any pages on your site encourages spidering of the pages that are internally linked to.

Yes, it is helpful if the page is internally linked with the category page, like http://www.xxx.com/shoe, as it helps crawlers discover all linked pages.

Yes, backlinks to a product page can also benefit the same category by improving overall domain authority and internal linking.

Yes, building a backlink to the specific category page (e.g., /shoe/Nike-men-running-shoe) can also indirectly benefit the broader category page (e.g., /shoe). When a specific page receives backlinks and gains authority, search engines often pass on some of that authority to related pages, especially if they are within the same category. However, the primary focus of the backlink will be on the page it targets. To directly strengthen the broader category page, it's best to build backlinks specifically to it as well.

Yes...So which means if I want to target the keyword "shoes" in SERP. The best practice will be building the backlink to "shoe" page instead of a shoe-related product page..is that correct? Although building the Backlink to a shoe-related product page might help as well.
