Today I was reading some news on Spanish and I found an article were they say this year the searchs with buy intent (like "buy running watch" and so on) were 52% in Amazon and 46% in Google (the rest in other sites) (this percentage is about the total of searchs in the last year).

It said this year has been the first time this happens. So... could be buyers will go to Amazon instead searching it on Google (so not earning for affiliate sites)? I am not talking about short term, everyone know that these 2,3,5? years affiliates will still work but... what do you think?

Note: I have read it in a Spanish site but I have found theu almost copied and translated the article from this other site (in English) so you can read it by your own: https://www.digitalcommerce360.com/2018/02/07/amazon-new-google-product-search/

Note 2: Sorry for my english today, it is not my native language and meanwhile I usually try to write it "well", today has been a really long day ;)

The ones that provide content and do SEO for marketing amazon products will be impacted. But the ones doing other content and seo, while using amazon affiliate to monetize their site won't be impacted.

If someone just wants to buy a product they would probably just hop on amazon, newegg etc. and check prices. But if someone is curios about something such as how to get Quad SLI working on the RTX 2080 Ti's they will do searches on google or Youtube. If the website with the guide has a script that updates a section of the page with the best deals on amazon, people are going to just click it since its easier.

There is a race for voice search, I know a lot of people who use it without even searching the net, they order from Amazon without going anywhere near a PC. Maybe ten years down the line voice search will be in. Google is trying to find a way of monetizing it without annoying people. So who will want the inconvenience of searching, reading and buying through affiliate sites

Affiliate sites will always have there place imo.

The way you stay ahead of the game is by establishing yourself as an authority in a niche. That way your organic traffic reliance will be lower than just traditional thin affiliate sites. These thin affiliate sites will die in the future but not authority sites. People trust them so they go to them regularly to read articles.

Just take the network gear lab (tech, baby, outdoor gear lab) they have established massive authority in those niches and people go to them directly to read articles.

Because if you create an authority it doesn't matter how search trends change because the majority of your traffic will be direct, referall, social and email.

NOT! single niche affiliate sites doesnt always means crap. I know lots of crap but not all . if a german shepherd owner wants to start blog on german shepherds. that doen't means its will be crap. it simple means he has good knowledge in german shepherd , he cant write about labs.

The things is not about micro niche or big sites. its about who you are why people will trust your blog. i have seen many big authority sites writes full crap with no real life advice.
