Basically two guys made a documentary in Germany how a few people are controlling or better to say manipulating specific parts of the Wikipedia in Germany. This caused a huge damage to the reputation of Wikipedia in Germany. Many people stopped donating their money.

What happened?
When it comes to politics, politicians, journalists, organisations, countries, policies, geo-politics etc. basically everything about politics and also historical people, there are a few powerful user protected by admins (some of them are admins themselves), which are abusing their power to manipulate articles in the Wikipedia. They defame journalists, politicians and others. So when someone is looking up a journalist on Google the first thing they see is the Wikipedia article. In the articles they can read lots of weird stuff, which are not not true. The good thing about Wikipedia is you can actually see how someone changed an article on the version history of the article itself. On specific articles we could see how some powerful user suddenly deleted 200 words and added 20 words, which are full of lies or just there to defame the person.
If someone is trying to edit the manipulated articles to become more neutral, the users are getting banned immediately and the articles are getting locked up for no further editing.
As you may know everyone can make an Wikipedia account and simply choose an username. The people actually manipulating articles and defame other people by telling lies are absolutely anonymous. Do you guys understand what a huge joke it actually is? Basically they tell lies and bad things about other people, but they can never get charged, because they are fully anonymous. Wikipedia and the admins are protecting. Its a huge disgrace and totally absurd.
What is Wikipedia doing?
Nothing! 600k people watched the documentary (there is also a second part) and there are even more videos on YouTube, but Wikipedia isn't doing anything. Many people stopped donating money. It is totally obvious some user are manipulating the articles, but Wikipedia is not deleting or banning them. They don't even make a statement. They just tolerate it.
In other countries it is the same
I have some friends in Norway, which said the same is happening over there. Same thing seems to happen in the UK.

The guy wrote: "“Philip Cross” has not had one single day off from editing Wikipedia in almost five years. “He” has edited every single day from 29 August 2013 to 14 May 2018. Including five Christmas Days. That’s 1,721 consecutive days of editing." Can you imagine how weird this shit is? This guy wrote in the Wikipedia every single fucking day.
