Hello BHW people, i have a question about the Off-page SEO. Are Wikipedia backlinks effective and fine for a website? Does Google ignore or take it into account?

Good links btw they are nofollow hehe .

I try for at least 1 Wikipedia link per project, no matter how obscure the link is. For some sites it really has a boosting effect, especially on the linked page. For others the effect is minimal if any. But the effort required is pretty minimal - just find some info on your site's subject that Wikipedia doesn't have or that needs a citation (or go full on fake news and make shit up), get that information on your site somewhere, and add a link to it.

I was fortunate to have got one free Wikipedia backlink in March 23. Some good soul on earth was kind enough to link to my site from the citation in an article on my site. I was so surprised to see that!

The article on my site is well written and informative. So I think it has got a reward for it's worth.

It is a no-follow backlink, but it is from Wikipedia and it matters a lot.

If you get them to stick, they are a great addition to your backlink profile.

It is nice to have a Wikipedia link as it increases the trust score.

I love wikilinks, great for referral traffic alone if you dont believe in no-follow links passing juice.

Wikipedia links from relevant articles boost your trust worthiness in the eyes of google.
It is more beneficial if you have a wikipedia page.
Just IMO

I did the exact thing for a broken link on a decently warmed up account.
Mods removed the link after 2 days.

May be you did it on an irrelevant wiki article or made an edit to an article that is highly moderated

I did it on a relevant wiki page and it was far from a mainstream page. My niche isn't YMYL.
I guess my luck is just trash lol.
