I use backlinks from wikipedia for dilution backlink profile. Because for good backlink profile nofollow links are necessary too and besides it's an authority website
 
Yes, wikipedia backlink will drive traffic to your site. I have 1 site with empty content. It still get traffic because have a backlink from wiki.

When I created my first blog around the time I joined blackhatworld, I submitted a new Wikipedia article and added my new blog as a reference (alongside other authority sites) and the link is still there even though my site is no longer online! I can't imagine paying that much for a Wikipedia backlink.

Getting a link from Wikipedia is a question beyond nofollow/********.

Google knows that all external links from wikipedia are nofollow. However, the site is highly moderated and getting a link from wikipedia can earn you trust in the eyes of Google.

And if Google trusts your site, then you can assume that your content will rank in SERPs with time.

In the IM game, being patient is the key factor that very less people recognize.
