Is it just me or is it that wikihow comes up for most of the "how to" things i search for in google. A few weeks ago this was not so but for some reason today they are ranking #1 for "how to" stuff I search for. any body have any ideas wats happening.
could someone please move this thread to the appropriate section. thanks.

http://www.wikihow.com/Fart-Quietly wow its that serious. wiki isnt playing around. they are ranking massively for some decent keywords. normally they are at position 1 and 2 on page one. plus they already have that "extra trust" from google.

Guys, just an idea for someone who have a lot of free time.
"How to tie a tie" This is one of the top KWs they are ranking for one the first page. Believe me, this KW brings heavy traffic if you reach page one. How about authority site for this KW?

Google has said it times without number, if you are going to create a site for people then you are going to get a personal love from them.

Ofcourse, they ways of measuring that.

Most sites are designed towards selling and making money.

If your primary aim is to make money you gotta be ready to share it with Google through adword and the likes..

Wiki is purely informational, no annoying ads or promotional offers.

So i guess they will rank pretty easily since they are not ranking to sell people stuff. (Just to help them out) although this might be i'm sure they are pulling big stacks every month

They do have adsense on there. BTW, anybody knows how to get a backlink from these articles on WikiHow? I assume it'd be possible as Wiki is open to edits.
