    Basically, if I put my site URL and then some random text it just brings me to my homepage
    For example, mysite.com/afafddsfsgfafa just displays mysite.com
    anyone got any idea why this is happening?
    Thanks a lot.

    It's a 404 redirection. Do you have any kind of plugins that take over the 404 redirection? Do you have any entries in the .htaccess file for 404? And last but not least do you have a 404 page template in the theme folder? (you can try switching themes so you can remove theme issues from the list)

    This is in my .htaccess file:

    1.
    # BEGIN WordPress
    2.
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    3.
    RewriteEngine On
    4.
    RewriteBase /
    5.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    6.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    7.
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    8.
    </IfModule>
    9.
    # END WordPress
