They may be kids living with their parents. Too innocent to understand consequences.

In crypto, It has many ways to wash your money. Imagine you can sell 1/100 of that bitcoin. It will make you a billionaire

What if the very best hackers in the world were working together like kevin mitnick, gary mckinnon, algerian hacker, carbanak hackers, ect... and wanted to steal this much btc, would they be able to get away with it assuming police couldnt recover the stolen btc?

Yes. In early 2025, I heard that some hackers from North Korea stole an amount of bitcoin (1.5 billion dollars), and the police and government couldn't catch them. They had a thousand wallets and many transactions.

They could get away with it easily. They just didnt know how.

Sure you could get away with it.

But if hackers wanted to steal in the billions of usd worth of bitcoin, how can you be so certain that they could get away with it?

I'm not certain they could get away. I'm just saying its doable in theory.

Theory? Well putting things into practice is quite a different matter... could north korean hackers steal 15 billion usd worth of btc and make it disappear?

Its not about disappearing.

They can actually get away with it if they know their shit. An example is the Bybit heist where hackers stole $1.5b and they are never caught.

But why not 15 billion usd like lubian then?

The value is so high that it makes them want to take risks and trade for it. A large amount of money can cause people to lose their rationality.
Trade for what? Whether the btc can be recovered or not, can they still get caught many years later on the blockchain or not?

No one can tell because the industry is evolving. But they can get away with it if they know what they are doing.

What do you mean by that? Someone said that even years later forensics can still catch people on the blockchain... does this make sense?
