Yes, you better invest on a new and better PC. Mine is Windows 7, but I only reboot it if updates are forcing the computer to be restarted, and that happen a few times a month. I never experience slowing down of my PC, so I just leave it ON even during short power interruption it is still running as it is connected to a UPS.
Of course these numbers are further compounded if you have employees. Remember this next time the wife gets mad for 'wasting money'

My compter definalty runs better after I restart it/shut it down .. Unless you have a hardcore dedcated work station running your PC 24/7 all the time increases stress on your components, and greatly increases the risk for component failure .. Then you really would be set back
I shut down my computer a few times a week as matience .. Im build a badass workstation though..till then I would say shut it at LEAST once a week from a health perspective

The place i come from, we have our own natural resources, and my home land have so many hydro electric stations of our own that electricity is so cheap here.
We pay monthly only $10-$15 for unlimited use here. So don't have to worry about all this!

I have 4 harddrives on this station that have been on 24/7 for the last 6 years. They have not failed, and my data is still accessible. All I had to do was make sure there's always a fan cooling them.

A reboot could help things run better. As for shutting off a computer, (for the night) that can actually shorten the life of the components. While heat can be detrimental to electrical components, it's actually the heating and cooling process that speeds up the breakdown of electrical parts. Keeping them at a constant temperature would (generally) extend the normal life of a computer. IMHO
