Hey guys,

I'm pretty sure someone is sending bot traffic to my website. I set it up a few days ago and haven't done much in terms of SEO or promoting it apart from Adwords. Here is are the stats (this is only for one day):

I just wanna know why someone would send me this. Any ideas? Thanks.

Someone trying to screw up the data on your analytics, so you cant analyze accurately?

2k isn't that much traffic, you should have no worries. But check out the reffers, definitely.

They may be trying to ruin your bounce rate in the long run, Dragging you down the serps, Be careful!

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

It's mostly direct traffic. Yeah, something fishy is going on.

The bounce rate is oddly low and 892 u/v's out of 895? You got adsense on it or is any of it interacting with your site in any way?

No, it's just a sales page.

That deff seems like generated traffic, all set to around :30 seconds on site. You mind sharing the URL?

I had this happen to one of my random sites last month... For about 2 weeks, I got about 800-2000 direct visits like this a day, then it just stopped. That site gets like 10 real visitors a day, if that. I had adsense on there, but I just got paid, so basically it did no damage at all... It's weird, can't figure out why they would do this.

Maybe to ruin your adsense and get you banned? Make anyone angry lately?

Alright thanks. I'm guessing mine will just stop as well.

You might want to check your server logs for the hostname/url being requested. It's more likely related to one of the residual traffic possibilities I've posted techniques to exploit.

check the logs and make sure those visits arent from robots indexing your site by reversing the ips or checking the nameservers ?
