Hi,

I have a question that has been in my head for some time :

Why does everyone promote the use of WordPress?

I understand that it's an easy tool to create nice websites, using few clicks of the mouse. But, why does it rank so easily in google?

I don't understand this : if all the IM'ers are using WordPress, wouldn't that be a sign for google to start NOT ranking these sites so easily? I mean, if you see how google treats IM'ers, it would be pretty logic, don't you think? ;)

What do you guys think about that? Would a website created with frontpage or dreamweaver not start doing better in google, now that everybody is using WP?
If you search google for any keyword, you can see that virtually everyone is now using WP. It's almost sickening. Knowing that all these sites are created by people who are probably not really offering any true value to the internet about the topic you are searching for.

LOL for someone who's looking for ways to make money online, I'm not very nice to my fellow marketers, I must admit :o

Im pretty sure some of the biggest and highest authority sites out there aren't using WP. But yes a lot of people do use WP, and I can care less. It's easy for me to make a good looking site that in turn can rank well, with onsite/offsite SEO work of course added to the mix. But just because someone uses WP doesn't mean they will rank higher than someone who created a website using Dreamweaver. These days it's all about the links baby!

Google loves fresh content which is the whole idea of a blog. drupal and joomla are just
as good if used correctly.
It's far easier to rank for multiple keywords if adding fresh content regularly.
And it is far easier to make a WP site SEO friendly for the average person then
to learn HTML and get it W3 compliant.

The most important thing you need to have well optimized website is clean HTMl output. google is not going to read your website at once. It needs easy to understand and hierarchical HTMl code to better understand the website and I personally founf the output HTML code of wordpress to be clean and hierarchical.

And while talking about your quesiton, why does it rank so well in google? I do not agree totally with you in this. You can rank with same content with other scripts (till it generates clean HTMl like Wordpress) but normally you see Wordpress based website in google search because millions of webmaster has started to use it for their website.

It's important to keep in mind that while lots of IMs use WP, so do a lot of bloggers that are pumping tons of cool/unique content.
If you're going to use wordpress, the idea, IMO is to make your site blend with that of actual bloggers, including tons of cool content.

Wordpress is easy to setup and install so lots of people use it. I bet at least 50% of so called "Internet Marketers" wouldn't be able to create a simple html page that looks good without errors.. let alone a whole website. Thats why it's so popular, not because it ranks well.

That's one reason why many like WP - for those who are not willing/able to throw together a good site through something like Dreamweaver, it offers a nice alternative with good SEO options to build in.

I've found the huge amount of plugins is what makes wp so desirable. There are thousands of plugins available which you can use to customize and add virtually any feature you want without having to program.

For me it's ease of creating new site. Literally in couple minutes i can have nice and clean looking site :) But ye there is a myth as well that google loves wp

Cheers

12% of the 1 million busiest sites i the world use wordpress

You thread is kinda weird to me but to be able to rank well you can use any type of site asp, php , joomla etc. In my case I suck really bad at everything but Seo so I use wordpress. Why? basically it's easy to outsource all the work and add it later on your website: ie, Design, content, images, logos and more. It's as simple as that specially if you own more that a handful of websites and you don't to hire people on a monthly basis.
Regards,
Al

Ok, thanks for the comments, guys.

I guess I know what I wanted to know now. I was really told that WP had some kind of "magic" power that made search engines like it more than other sites.

Now I know the truth is simply that it's a nice tool for people who don't know much about how to how to build a html website manually.

Thanks

It's big advantage is it's easy to use, update, and maintain. It's SEO plugins and capabilities certainly help.

Wordpress is better than hand written php or html in most cases because it is standardized. Further, most developers have no care or desire to learn a damn thing about seo, I have redesigned countless sites that have "Main" as the title meta tag!! Further its a fantastic way to manage content why sit on a ftp program all day reading text files when you can be doing you content updates and site maintenance through a pretty interface.

here's something that will school all wordpress haters, here is a list of companies that use wordpress as there CMS.

the answer is simple. you can customize wordpress. easy to use. and many developers added value to wordpress. and Google love wordpress.

I personally like wordpress because it's just easy. It's not perfect for huge websites, but it 's great for a smaller site. Very easy and quick.

It's easy to use, almost ready (seo) wise out of the box, many-many free themes available, plugins also... etc etc

Strange. Only two or three answers are related to the question that the OP has asked. All others, maybe, did not get what he was asking or they did understand it but did not have knowledge to answer so they took another way to answer (or imitate to answer).

Some wrote they did like wordpress so they used it (Did he ask "do you like wordpress?")
Someone wrote "You can customize wordpress... So Google loves it." Bullshit. What an unrelated answer.
So it goes on and on...

Please do not write here if you will not contribute. And OP, you will clearly see the best/distinguished answers among all those rubbish ones. Thanks to those repliers. And pity on those who write here just to write.

Really? Sorry but your conclusion is totally wrong. And no easy answer will you get from me about why it is.

Mmmm. Okay think about this:

It is something like saying after visiting Ford or GM:

"What an awsome and simple to operate factory is this. You push a button and a car comes out!"

Snipped for clarity.

Why does everyone promote the use of WordPress?

Wouldn't that be a sign for google to start NOT ranking these sites so easily?

Wordpress is heavily promoted in because it is a simple to install, simple to customize, scalable multipurpose solution. As a platform it can handle e-commerce, online magazine, infosites, simple homepages and full fledged multisite deployments.

Wordpress has a good WELL SUPPORTED platform for onpage SEO, making it much easier to launch a successful link campaign without worrying if you have all your tags correct in dreamweaver.

It would be an absolute travesty for Google to suppress the rankings of one of the most popular CMS platforms. Instead, they pay 1000's of people each day to work out new algorithms to stop the ranking of spammy content based on CONTENT, not platform.

The page with the best all round SEO strategy will link the best, the page with the best content, with the best (or most) backlinks, and the best on page seo will always outdo a worse site, regardless of platform or design.

I think a better point to make, is that when searching keywords in certain niches you get spammy results, many of which are hosted on wordpress, you will also notice that a lot of the genuine results are hosted on wordpress too.
