it definitely is. but it's not an easy path — there's no guarantee of success. it takes time, real effort, and motivation to stick to your schedule even when you don't see any progress for month after month. but at the end of the day, with these google updates, it will be the only way (in our opinion). so learn everything you can theoretically before starting, stick to your schedule, and keep learning. it really doesn't have an endpoint. and always remember, your competitors won't work less than you — at least not if you're aiming for the top.
