Why was my blog comment rejected?

I am trying my first backlink using a blog comment on an .edu site. I submitted my comment (evidently registration is not required) but it was auto-rejected..Thing is there are several BLATANT comments which were posted previously like "cheap airline tickets" etc. Can't figure out what was wrong with mine.

It was in the form of:

MYANCHORTEXT

We can't post links here at BHW but if someone could take a look at the comments page I'm referring to I can PM you a link. I'd appreciate someone having a quick look at it. Or maybe it's my anchor text that's the problem?

Possible akismet autoreject, or the blog admin may have turned on stricter spam control since those spammy comments you saw were posted. The previous spammer could also be using XSS to get their links through automagically.

Yeah, I was wondering if they had gotten stricter since the spammy comments. One thing that leads me to believe it is there are no recent comments. But then again the spammy ones weren't removed either.

Not getting approved is like asking women out move on to the next! :)

Ok, that was my gut instinct too but I haven't been at this long enough to know what the deal was.

Btw, I'm using seo quake sorting by PR using site: method. It works but only produces about 4 decent PR .edu or .gov commentable blogs per page. If anyone can point me to a more efficient method I'd appreciate it. I'm not lazy- just don't want to be doing things slowly if there's a better way.

I've only attempted a few but so far all my attempts have been rejected.

Well after searching for almost an hour I found ONE .edu blog allowing comments with a PR3 so I take it these are rare and presumably valuable. That's what I'm guessing at least.

btw blog commenting is a great way to get some nice backlinks and more importantly.

& in general, when you post on maintained blogs, make it meaningful several sentences.

Its all about quality content

exactly. just post a quality comment and you shouldn't have any problem.

none of this "great post! i've subscribed to your blog and look forward to reading more of your posts!"

I've solely tried a few however so far all my attempts have been rejected.

maybe you IP was blacklisted, or some part of your comment made it to the akismet blocklist

Backlinking using Blog comments is a hit and miss thing, it will only be blocked by the sites spam filter specially if you add urls. Find blogs without spam filter, search the forum and you will find list with auto approved comment sites.

Try not gving the keyword. Use a name instead. I got my comments approved so many times when I use a name instead of a keyword.
