About 1 year ago, I tried out Amazon Associates. After quickly getting 3 sales, they turned down my application with the following reason:

"Why?
We noticed that you are not using tags associated with your store in any of the Amazon Special Links you have created on your site ***********.com. As a result of this, we were unable to determine the source of traffic. This is in violation of our Program Policies found here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/help/operating/policies."

Honestly, I did go through all my links and the policies of Amazon + googled this a lot, but I still do not understand what I have done wrong. Can anyone enlighten me on this? o_O

I think it could be that the tags you used in your affiliate links that made sales are not tags that are affiliated with your declared website.

Did you declare all of your websites?

For the record Amazon associates has a chat help that would be able to walk you through the problem I'm sure. You just gotta do and ask them in your account.

I believe I declared my website. Thanks about the tip for the chat - will definitely look into that. :)

Sounds like the sales you made didn't come from your website maybe? Are you using other methods to promote your amazon links?

They were all from my website. I found it super weird. Now I made a second round of Googling and it appears that a lot of people are confused about this "banning reason" as well.

I will try to purchase one of these Amazon affiliate plugins and give it a second shot.

Same thing has happened to me. I've tried three new websites with different ips and different devices but it keeps triggering. I've declared the site put in visible affiliate link put in the disclaimer so I don't know what it is.

My thoughts are maybe the link Im using example home isn't always the highest converting category and its various for example electronics etc so maybe amazon don't like this

Your traffic source is UNKNOWN

What does exactly that mean? I used a normal Wordpress site and, as far as I can remember, always used the tracking method recommended by Amazon (that toolbar thing).

Maybe you could reapply still, what do you say ? I would say it's totally great and correct for basically any reason being done there, if I would you - I would try anyway to do that really. How else we can go with that much ? I am not sure, so retry with them.

Show here an example of a URL generated with your tags.

The issue seems to be from your affiliate links, how are you linking to amazon from your website. widget or from text links ?
