Why Tumblr Sucks

I still have 1000 followers on it. How the story, so that you are prohibited from tumblr?

Had a ton of accounts banned.. I believe due to a bot I was using. All was well until I started to post images.. 50+ blogs banned. Started to email them as non of them had any affiliate links or anything like that. Day 1 i got 2 blogs back with their generic apology email about automation. Been 3+ days now and I have heard nothing on the other accounts. Noting about breaking the rules and nothing about giving back the account. Just silence.

Tumblr does not exist to make you money.
They want you to create a resource for them free of charge.
Any out going link to any but a nonprofit is grounds for them to delete your account.

I had bad experience with them as well in the past. I am trying them again for a new project, and I am still hopeful that they don't ban this blog of mine. If they do ban me this time, I will never ever use tumblr that's for sure.

The thing is, while it's not against the rules to be making money off Tumblr, they see it as you're trying to benefit off their work. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. If they see that you're doing well, they'll ban you for no reason. There really is no method to it, either.

False....
no where in the TOS does it say this. Also, scores of blogs which have been up for years have click thru links and Href images

With proxies and bots, your growth should be outpacing the random bans. It's also relatively easy to play it safe with the big accounts.

I haven't been in the game for too long, only 4 months, but I currently have 100k followers.

same with me but 4 months and 150k :p

Post 50 times a day and make sure they're high quality posts. The hardest is your first 1k after that its pretty much set

You mean post 50 high quality pictures daily?

That's it?

Do you post links along with them or just the images alone?

yeah thats it and search for the 5 most popular # in your niche... I gain around 1k followers per day and get between 35-40k notes daily. I don't post links on mine

Thanks for that, I really appreciate the tips.

Is your niche adult? I wonder with that many followers.

Also, if you don't post links I imagine you will add one post every few days or so with a link to your money site in order to monetize. Is that right? If not then how do you monetize it?

Thanks again!

Nah its not adult (I don't want to give mine away but all the posts are clean with no nudity/ sexual content)

To be honest I haven't really monetised mine yet but I'm working on driving traffic to Instagram, it seems to be going alright I'm getting around 100-200 a day from tumblr

Tumblr is worst than rubbish.

They have just banned me a STW account with some links to a blogspot blog (STW also).

The end of tumblr is near if they continuing with random banning.

Hmmm, I have luckily not had this issue. Ran even an account with around the same number of followers as you (a little over 420k). Might as well be that your tumblr page got reported or the content on your page was screaming "Making Money" too loud? Not sure, but I would hate to think that I'd lose an account with so many followers...

I actually got a totally random tumblr banned-- I hadn't been using it often and it had maybe 200 followers, and one day after a hiatus I logged in and it said my account had been terminated. I wasn't upset or whatever but I did contact support about it, as I was wondering what I'd done wrong, and they just said "sorry for the mistake, it looked like your security was breached, just change your password" and I got the blog back. Their spam filter is just so intense that tumblr just looks borderline paranoid, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as you contact support and ask exactly why you were terminated.

In my opinion, tumblr's not as bad as instagram in terms of banning. The biggest thing they ban people for imo is ANYTHING drug related and nudity related. Meaning the whole #freethenipple and even weed pics in LEGALIZED states got people's accounts banned. I've seen blogs with 750K followers being banned, then reinstated, then they'd be banned 2-3 more times and the cycle would keep going on. Same with a lot of these innocent people just posting bikini pics or whatever and others are reporting. Not to say that tumblr's any better, they treat NSFW like crud, but for MOST SFW if your stuff gets banned and you don't have any bad ties to your IP or any spammy links, you should get your stuff back. While for instagram.. their customer service mostly sucks. I've lost from stupid mistakes around 50K+ followers on tumblr over the past year and from about 10-15K were BS reasons on legit accounts. At least tumblr provides good traffic tho?
